Liverpool news: Naby Keita makes Premier League admission just weeks after entrance
LIVERPOOL latest boy Naby Keita admits the Premier League is "tough" just weeks after arriving on Merseyside.
Keita rocked up at Anfield this summer, 12 months on from the Reds striking a contract with RB Leipzig to sign him.
And he enjoyed a promising pre-season as Jurgen Klopp’s side looked to click into gear as rapidly as possible.
Keita shone from the begin as Liverpool dispatched West Ham, Crystal Palace and Brighton in their first 3 Premier League games of the latest campaign.
But he initially had to settle for a position on the bench as they maintained their 100% record by beating Leicester.
Jordan Henderson slotted in for Keita at the King Power Stadium and Klopp hinted it was a defensively-minded choice.
Keita has now presented his take on the Premier League, admitting playing in it is no simple task.
"I think it’s fair to say that the Premier League is a tough league," Keita told Liverpool’s official magazine.
"I’m very motivated to be playing in it – it’s an attractive proposition – but I’ve been told by many people that a lot of overseas players come into the Premier League and they take time to integrate, depending on the circumstances.
"So playing in the Premier League can be hard, but I am very motivated to play here, not just for myself and my team-mates, but for the organization.
"everyone around me has been very helpful towards me so I am certainly giving all I can to get settled into the team quickly."
Keita’s omission against Leicester came with Fabinho yet to feature for Liverpool competitively.
While Henderson and Adam Lallana have seen their opportunities partial as well.
Keita says the battle to earn a start under Klopp is no bad thing though.
"Competition for places in midfield is something that can only assist the team," Keita added.
"Obviously the coach will go further on and make his choices and I am sure he will choose the top players at the time for each match as they come along.
"That way, everyone gives their best throughout the season and I think it also gets the best out of everybody."
